Chaplaincy
We are developing chaplaincy work in Primary schools.
Chaplaincy
Chaplaincy is about journeying with some of the most vulnerable children, young people and adults in order to see them overcome barriers to participation and opportunities.
We have an excellent reputation and track record amongst schools in the Yate and Sodbury area and have a unique opportunity to carry a message of hope and whole life transformation. Schools are under increased pressure, be it financial, to raise standards or to provide the best care and nurture they can. There is pressure on staff and senior leaders as they must respond to the needs of the local community. We believe chaplaincy can both offer support to schools beyond the more traditional ways such as RE and PSHE support, collective worship and after-school clubs, to provide significant services such as programmes of well-being, pastoral care and a link to wider community integration – services that are increasingly at the heart of schools need but ones that they are unable to resource.
Our heart is to see the narrative of children and young people re-written; a narrative of hope, of love, of peace and opportunity.
This will look like children and young people overcoming barriers to education, accessing new enriching opportunities, having someone accompany them through the ups and downs of life, a listening ear and an encouraging word. It will also look like staff well-being placed centrally, pastoral care, being blessed, or sat with and listened to. We hope the difference Chaplaincy will make will also go beyond the school gates, helping build better more integrated communities where people are included, respect one another and understand their infinite value, as well as homes that are healed as families learn to engage with one another in a new and healthier way.
Student Mentoring
We have launched Regenerate Mentoring in one of our schools. Our one to one student mentoring provides a safe space for students to enjoy being creative or playing games, while we listen to and acknowledge their hopes and fears.
